C A S I N O ☆★☆★☆ M A S T E R – 勝 者 ！ ！ ！ ！★W I N N E R★
勝 者 ！ ！ ！ ！★W I N N E R★1 is a clusterfuck of casino noise. The second and final album from C A S I N O ☆★☆★☆ M A S T E R is a twenty-minute sound collage of Japanese pop music, sound effects, and bit phrases. Previous album ☆★☆ ボーナススピン幸運 ！！！ almost entirely relied on pachinko sound effects to create an emotionless, empty depiction of the gambler’s lifestyle; in contrast, 勝 者 ！ ！ ！ ！★W I N N E R★ is all of the glitz and glam that the other forewent. It’s the difference between CSI‘s depiction of Vegas gambling and that of Ocean’s Eleven, except in Japan.
This is the most musical of the C A S I N O ☆★☆★☆ M A S T E R releases, which is in no part due to the J-pop track that underpins the entire track. There are a multitude of short noise interludes throughout the song before launching back into the craziness, similar to that employed by emperor tangerine on my empire and the_zone. At roughly the thirteen-minute mark, the track suddenly cuts out except for a low-frequency electronic humming, as if the power suddenly went out in the casino. The fourteen-second coda of “±T R Y A G A I N±” is simply a refrain of the poppier elements of the main track.
TKX Vault/Tokyo Exchange had plenty of releases based in noise music, but this is probably one of the most overtly-influenced by classic-style vaporwave. Check it out for a bit of insanity.
