Online Records triple release: Hantasi, Painter, and collaborative live performance

Okay, admittedly these albums came out over the last week instead of all at once, but it’s been a busy time between Christmas and New Years so it’s only recently that I’ve been able to take a listen. For those of you who don’t follow Online Records (yet), the label’s owners recently performed a live show at Discord, and the two label owners (Hantasi and mat) have performed live mixes themselves several times. Both artists play an extremely abrasive form of vaporwave/noise music that is “vapornoise” in the true sense of the word. A plurality of their releases use ECCOJAMS-type sampling with a lot of techniques from digital noise music, including 808s, industrial beats, and sample layering. LIVE 2.0000 @ Discord chronicles one such show at the Discord club; hantasi live chronicles another, with a special feature from Maroplume. The last of the three releases – I’m Never Coming Back by Painter (another Hantasi project) – is a funereal piano piece that’s quite different from the rest of the catalogue. All albums are available on a pay-what-you-want digital download format.
