#00ff00: emergency stop key – #ffc0cb emergency shutdown

Recommendation: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here’s another album released as a part of the Telepathic Data Storage project, a series of vaporwave-themed releases from 2015-2016 by matdmoon that ran the gamut of ambient vaporwave to noise music to sample curation. Although its name belies potentially harsher connotations, #ffc0cb emergency shutdown is an eight-track EP of MIDI-sounding synth and chillwave tracks, published via #00ff00: emergency stop key. If you’re looking for a pleasant alternate soundtrack of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, then your search ends here. Each track is roughly two minutes long and features simple, upbeat melodies and video gamey cues. All are identically titled except for the last track, which is Arabic for “21st century kill switch”. It’s pretty different from the rest of the album, sounding a bit like the glitch-folk outro to “Impossible Soul” from The Age of Adz by Sufjan Stevens. Tracks three and four feature a sort of Seinfeld bass line that emphasizes the early/mid-90s feeling even more – again, looking for a new video game soundtrack?
