AOTW | 24 April – 30 April: t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者 – アンタラ通信
アンタラ通信 is a two-disc (or it would be if it were to come out on CD [hint hint]) release by telepath, one of the foremost artists in ambient vaporwave and dreampunk. Starting off with an eighteen-minute hypnagogic jam, アンタラ通信 foreshadows the surreal textures that telepath would heavily explore through the Virtual Dream Plaza (or “仮想夢プラザ”) project. Whereas previous telepath albums heavily played on the side of late-night lo-fi, a precursor of dreampunk in which pop music and adult contemporary were slowed down and affected to a somewhat surreal extent akin to ambient music, アンタラ通信 demonstrated a shift to more original compositions and further obfuscation of source material. This is one of the slushiest of telepath’s discography so far, and it’s equally excellent for late night dreams when drifting to sleep and late night drives with a lover.
