音 LIGHT システム – everyone has forgiven you please come home now

Recommendation: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

音 LIGHT システム1 is known for their successful series of vaportrap releases such as Buy Milk (which recently received a nearly-instantly sold out run of cassettes on Vice ’98), but they actually started out playing classic-style vaporwave. everyone has forgiven you please come home now was released in 2013 through Saphron Squares, the collective label for 音 LIGHT システム releases, sort of like New Dreams Ltd. for Vektroid back in 2011. It’s eleven tracks of cheesy adult contemporary and muzak samples that have been heavily equalized and processed to sound as if they are coming from old physical media from the 80s. As with many classic-style releases, this album has some occasional glitchiness that is meant to manifest skips on vinyl or degradation on cassette tape. The muted fidelity will be familiar to fans of Fortune 500.

It’s rather standard when it comes to the content. Those who have heard the myriad of classic-style releases out there will probably find that everyone has forgiven you please come home now does not stand out too much from the crowd. However, there are a couple of moments worth checking out. “ビロード。” is a languid track that drifts along to hypnagogic beats with a barely-intelligible croon in the background. “夢のチャンネル。” begins with a funky pop-new-wave instrumental beat and makes clever utilization of classic-style production skips. Check those two out if you’re looking to dive into this album.
