Online Records releases “S/T” by Colonial folk / Pinwheel visions of the angels
Online Records is one of the most varied and experimental labels in the contemporary vaporwave scene. Their albums run the gamut of classic-style vaporwave to experimental electronic and drone albums. One particular scene in which Online Records has specialized that’s unique among vaporwave labels is musique concrete and tape music. In the label’s early days, it almost exclusively released such works, but the past year saw them expand into other subgenres and scenes. S/T (whether that means “self-titled” or is literally called S/T) is a full-length release of musique concrete from Colonial folk / Pinwheel visions of the angels. The album is produced as two tracks representing two different sides to a cassette. Not as abrasive as the early tape experiments by the label, this release is still a lo-fi exploration of a variety of experimental sounds and field recordings.
