Occasionally Tapes releases “Her Gaze” by Pink Blush

Lots of hypnagogic drift takes after the slushwave experiments of telepath and similar artists. This isn’t a bad thing – there’s a good reason why that aesthetic has stayed strong throughout vaporwave. It sounds pretty cool, and it’s stylistically varied enough to allow for a variety of outcomes. Well, Pink Blush takes a completely different approach with Her Gaze for Occasionally Tapes. This album sounds like hypnagogic drift approached from shoegaze music, with lots of reverb, phaser, and wall-of-sound styled production that really wouldn’t be out of place on a My Bloody Valentine EP like Glider – pink cover art notwithstanding. Check out the 14-minute “Ethereal”. Her Gaze is available as a pay-what-you-want digital download.
