Geometric Lullaby releases “(happy anniversary) – 周年快乐” by b e g o t t e n 自杀
It appears that b e g o t t e n 自杀 is sort of the flagship project of Geometric Lullaby, a label that started about a year and a half ago that releases hypnagogic drift and experimental forms of old-school vaporwave. (happy anniversary) – 周年快乐 is a celebration of the b e g o t t e n 自杀 project. Allusions to the “anniversary” are opaque, with the accompanying text (in English and Japanese, and not translations of each other) referencing romantic and familial relationships, as well as weathering storms (no pun intended). As with previous albums, (happy anniversary) – 周年快乐 is a slushwave release that’s heavy on reverb, but it features acoustic instrumentation and garbled pop music samples in contrast to the heavy ambient of other 2018 albums. It’s available as a pay-what-you-want digital download; the cassette edition is already sold out.
