いすゞ・ピアッツァ ENTERPRISES – ISUZU PIAZZA

Recommendation: ✂ (“1981 Isuzu Piazza XE,” “Tokyo Motor Show,” “Tape Start B”)

The only extant album of いすゞ・ピアッツァ ENTERPRISES1 is textbook vaporwave in the sense of almost entirely unedited samples put together in a package meant to elicit nostalgia and set up as if it’s from a promotional cassette tape for the titular vehicle. It does what it does well, and those looking for nothing more than a trip back in time will be happy to have it in their collection. With this kind of album, the listener kind of knows exactly what they’re getting into: the typical likes of smooth jazz, easy listening, and the backing reel of a VHS infomercial. It’s seeks to be genuinely nostalgic, not faux-nostalgic (e.g. computer slime). This album is not exactly anything groundbreaking or new (and it’s not looking to be so), but hey, at least the samples sound pretty nice – and they’re actually from media that references the Isuzu Piazza! That’s way more than most vaporwave concept albums can claim.
