Midnight Moon Tapes releases “A Night at the Local Multiplex” by βeta 96

A Night at the Local Multiplex is a classic-style vaporwave album by βeta 96, out on Midnight Moon Tapes. This album is heavily reminiscent of early Vektroid releases such as 札幌コンテンポラリー from the 情報デスクVIRTUAL project. The album revolves around the concept of a titular night at the movie theatre, beginning with the sounds of someone listening to music in their car, entering the lobby, and following through the actual viewing of a film through music. It’s like mallsoft, except with the experience of cinemas instead of malls, and with some impressive production choices in spoken-word aspects, nighttime sounds, and breaks in the score. It’s available as a pay-what-you-want digital download and for $9 USD on blue cassette in an edition of twenty.
